Straits, blockades and trade: winning without firing a shot

Not every war is won on land. In FRONT 2026 world trade flows through seven strategic points: Hormuz, Suez, Bab-el-Mandeb, Malacca, Gibraltar, the Bosphorus and Panama.

Straits

The country with the strongest fleet in a strait can charge a transit toll or close it. Closing hits world trade and costs upkeep, so use it carefully.

Naval blockades

Between countries at war, a fleet can block the opponent's ports. Trade stops and the budget falls. The blockade breaks if the target's fleet outmatches yours.

Tariffs and investments

You can set tariffs of up to 15% on goods bought from another country; trade-treaty partners are exempt. With spare money you can buy stakes in other countries or the world fund and collect dividends, but a nationalization can wipe the stake.
